Model Rockets

It was fun to get the old rockets out of the basement and see them fly again. The rockets and engines were 19 years old. My niece and nephew each had a rocket they built in science class last spring that we launched too. After 20 years, AA batteries get a bit corroded and Estes igniters fall apart. We did have one of the old engines malfunction too. It is definitely safer and easier to use new stuff.

Pioneer Reunion

Filed under: happenings — michael @ 10:15 pm

A year has already passed since we attended pioneer school! Thanks to Melissa for organizing this whole thing, all those that helped with the food and decorating, Sister Henderson for the use of the facilities, and all that came for the encouraging and enjoyable evening. Keep up the good work.

Pioneer Reunion

We had a nice one year reunion of our pioneer school. About half the class was able to make it. It was a really encouraging time for me, and I’m sure for everyone else as well.

McDonald’s Robotic Drink Dispenser

I got up at 5:30 AM today to head up to Reed City for work. This is a bit earlier than my normal routine and I didn’t grab breakfast at home. So, I decided to swing through the McDonald’s drive-thru that I drive by on my way to get on the freeway.

I found it very interesting when I pulled up to the second window and I saw an odd looking soda dispenser. It had short plastic cups along the bottom where you would put the cup to be filled and there were only two drink nozzles. It took me by surprise when the cup rack rotated and a gripper moved up and pulled down a cup. It then put the cup into one of short plastic cups which then indexed over and ice came out of the first nozzle, then it indexed again and was filled mostly with Coke, then pause, then topped off.

This may be old news to everyone else, but I don’t get to McDonald’s very often.

When a drink order is punched into the register, the drink is now automatically filled. Pretty slick!
