Model Rockets

It was fun to get the old rockets out of the basement and see them fly again. The rockets and engines were 19 years old. My niece and nephew each had a rocket they built in science class last spring that we launched too. After 20 years, AA batteries get a bit corroded and Estes igniters fall apart. We did have one of the old engines malfunction too. It is definitely safer and easier to use new stuff.

We had a great time at Airventure again this year. The day before we arrived there was 3 inches of rain from severe thunderstorms. We were glad to have missed that considering we were tent camping.

It seemed like it was the Burt and Richard show this year. Both Burt Rutan and Sir Richard Branson were prominent with their involvement in suborbital space flight as well as Steve Fossett’s Global Flyer.
