You are indeed a descendant of the Mayflower Soules. You have back to William Soule b: 1711 and wife Keziah Gifford b: 1720. William was the son of Sylvanus Soule (1694 -abt. 1780) and Sarah Slade (b: abt. 1688) Sylvanus is the son of Nathanial Soule (1637-1699) and Rose Thorne (1662 – abt. 1703) Nathanial was the third son of George Soule and Mary Beckett. George was a passenger on the Mayflower and signed the Marflower Compact. He was the teacher of Edward Winslow’s children. Our common ancestor is William Soule and Keziah Gifford. I am descended through his son Jacob who married Meribah Lewis. Their daughter Sarah Soule married Silas Sawdy, and their daughter Sybil Sawdy married my GG Grandfather Walter Allee. Allee is my maiden name. Hope some of this helps. I am trying to find the father of Ellen/Mercy Sowle/Soule b.1838. She married Alpheus Wells of Enosburgh, Vermont in 1855-6. Her father’s name was William. That, unfortunately is all that I know.

For Lewis Wm & William Sowles: I encourage you to DNA test. Two descendants of William & Anna Sewell Soule (spelled variously sowles) have dna tested and have matched. Another who’s ancestor was John Alden Soule has also tested and the haplogroup & signature is compatible. A descendant of Anna Sewell Soule’s brother, Joseph has also DNA tested; a descendant of John, Joseph’s older brother will dna test. Go to FTDNA Soule YDNA Surname project for details.

For James Smith #22 Mr. Smith, contact me at my e-mail chantillycarpets@earthlink.net and I will send you pdf copies of all the documants. Also, two descendants of William Soule (Sowles) that died in Alburgh have DNA tested, and they match between them. If your grandson is up for a dna genealogical test and there are no broken links in his surname heritage such as an adoption or something like that and he matches the other two who have tested then I think that this debate is finished. This has been an exciting adventure. My husband and I took a trip to the New England States in September, 2010. At the time I didn’t know that I had any direct line ancestors on the Mayflower and since our return I have discovered I have 3 lines ~ Soule, Brewster, and Hopkins.

If anyone has any information to share that would be great and likewise if I can provide any information to others I would be glad to do so.

my great grandmother was a sowle.but,not of the mayflower sowles.or at least i have found no connection.i have gotton as far as 1711
william sowle 1711-1822 wife kezia gifford 1720-1768.children joseph 1740-1822,silas,jacob,nathaniel,job,recompense,benjamin…joseph father of joseph t,joseph t father of alpheus,alpheus father of carl,carl father of my great grandmother maybelle.are there any other sowles of this family?

Hello, I have just started doing research on my mothers side of the family…
am trying to document the info. I have and to find out if it is accurate.
I have Harvey Vening Lucas, Richfield, Michigan, his parents: Sereno G. Lucas and Susanah Dickinson, her parents are Zebulon Dickinson and Esther Dean, His parents are Zebediah Dickinson and Elizabeth Powell, his parents are Zebulon Dickinson and Rejoice (Joyce) Hance, his parents were Joseph Dickinson Jr. and Hannah, and his parents were Joseph Dickinson and Rose Townsend, and his parents were John Dickinson and Elizabeth Howland and her parents were John Howland and Elizabeth Tilley.

I have a copy of the death certificate for Harvey Lucas stating that his mother was Susanah Dickinson, and I have a copy of Susanah’s death certificate that states her parents were Zebulon Dickinson and Esther Dean.
I need to find Zebulon Dickinson’s death certificate to show his father was indeed Zebediah Dickinson….
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
